Lemon-Aid : Giving Tree

Many of these children have never received a gift with their name on it.

Whatever your religious or spiritual beliefs, the holiday season heralds a time of celebration of love, family, friendship, and community. As the year draws to a close, we gather with family and friends to share the joys of the past year and our hopes for the new one. This year we hope you can open your hearts just a little bit more to include those who are less fortunate and in need. There are neglected and abused children in our neighborhoods that you have the power to give the gift of joy and hope to this holiday. Please consider joining us in our efforts to take lemons and make them into Lemon-Aid.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible!

Lemon-Aid wishes to thank everyone for helping to make The Giving Tree Project '08 a success!! Thanks to your support, we were able to fill the wishes of many underprivileged children throughout southern California.

Lemon-Aid (lemon-aid.org) is a non-profit founded by a small group of people determined to make a difference in our communities in a personal and tangible way. None of us are rich, but we're using the wealth of our time, compassion, and love to reach out and make a difference in the lives of our neighbors. We are excited to launch Lemon-Aid this December with The Giving Tree Project '08, a project that seeks to fill the simple holiday wishes of disadvantaged children in our neighborhoods. We are very proud to be working with Five Acres, an acclaimed residential child aid organization (known as an orphanage back in the day) that houses and cares for children from all over southern California. All of these children are disadvantaged and most of them have been very abused. Five Acres provides them with a safe home and support to help them re-integrate successfully into society. Many of these children have never received a gift, let alone one that was meant especially for them. We have 150 wish lists and 150 opportunities for you to make a difference. For the modest cost of a small gift, you can make a child feel important, worthy, and loved. Will you help make a wish come true?

The Giving Tree Project is a community effort to make holiday wishes come true as well as promote the importance of having a "green" Christmas. We are thrilled to partner with The Living Christmas Company, a progressive company in southern California that seeks to change the way Californians celebrate Christmas. If it is your or your family's tradition to have a Christmas Tree, we urge you to "rent" a LIVING Christmas Tree this year. A Living Christmas Tree still has its root system and thus can be re-planted after the holiday season. Not only does a living tree leave less of an eco footprint than a CUT Christmas Tree, it helps to clean the air and reverse the effect of global warming. The Living Christmas Company has generously donated ALL of the trees in The Giving Tree Project and is offering 5% off a tree rental for everyone. They will also donate 10% of their proceeds to Lemon-Aid, so please rent your Christmas Tree from them this year and have yourself a GREEN Christmas! To find out more or to rent a tree, please visit TheLivingChristmasCompany.com and enter the Promo code "LEMONAID".

Anonymous: I didn't put my name on the toys I bought because I don't need a "thank you." As long as the kids get what they want, that makes my day. Thanks so much to all of you for this wonderful project and giving me the opportunity to contribute. Please, let the kids know they ARE loved and they ARE special, even by total strangers.
